September 17, 2010 is designated "Constitution Day" and "Citizenship Day" and as part of these celebrations USCIS anticipates over 9,000 invididuals will be naturalized in over 60 ceremonies.  USCIS is also partnering with the National Park Service to hold naturalization ceremonies at 22 national park sites during the week of September 13-24.  Sites include the Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park in California, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in Missouri and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.

Naturalization is the process by which United States citizenship is conferred upon a foreign born citizen or national after he or she has fulfilled the requirements established by Congress.  Once a person naturalizes, the individual becomes a citizen of the United States.
